Snow Dog

Tucker in the snow. As you can see, the dogs have out on the snow quite a bit.

Now is this a good-looking guy or what? (11 months yesterday)

Book Errors

 Sometimes my mind rambles too.

I just finished reading the book Dead or Alive by Tom Clancy and Grant Blackwood. It's a great story, but I found 3 errors in the library edition that I read. ISBN 978-0-399-15723-3 Copyright 2010 by Rubicon.

Page 166
"The witness reports would invariably fall into one of three general categories: I saw nothing; ... it all happened so fast; and ... I don't speak Russian. And of those accounts, the only true statement was likely the last one: It all happened so fast."
That was not the last statement, it was the 2nd statement.

Page 171
"He had everything cross-filed on his computer, all of it in the terabytes of RAM on the The Campus's monstrous server, and he called up the most recent documents..."
The data would not have been stored in RAM on the server.

Page 901
"Almost immediately it became apparent that the Cushman's breaks were inadequate."
It should be "brakes", not "breaks".

Dog Coat Description/Tag

I was looking for a coat for my Boxer mix and came across one that I thought would fit although the tag on it was quite confusing. Can you imagine all these dogs listed wearing the same size coat? LOL!
I guess they don't know dog breeds very well in China.

Few Leaves Left

This is what happens when you wait until November to take the camera out. Most of the leaves are gone.

Nearly a month!

No posting for nearly a month and I don't even have a new picture to show. I'm slipping. No, I already slipped.

Wildlife on an Ohio prairie

Milkweed Bugs They kind of make me want to say "Eeww!", but I find them interesting at the same time. I read up on them and found that these two different looking bugs are actually the same bug in different stages of development. They eat the fibers and seeds of milkweed plants. The nasty plant makes the bugs taste bad so birds will not be likely to eat them.

Not as yucky - Frogs by/in the pond. Can you see the smallers ones in the water?

Po' little Tucker

Tucker was neutered today and is miserable sitting alone in his crate. I'll go keep him company later while I read my book.

Keeping an Eye on Things

Laying on the back of the couch gives a good view of what's going on inside and outside the house.

New Game

Over the last few weeks Sophie has developed a sort of tag-team fetch game. Sophie brings me a ball or other toy and puts it in my lap. I toss it across the room and Tucker chases it. Tucker plays around with it for awhile. Sophie eventually takes the toy from Tucker and brings it to me to toss again.

Blooms on the way

Makes me smile

I think Tucker looks really cute this way with his short legs sticking out.

Is that a beagle/dachshund?

No, no he is not.

Rambling in my backyard

Looks like my lilies will finally bloom this year. I bought them last year at a yard sale.

A baby bell pepper. Hard to tell here, but it's only about 2 inches.

Almost 6 months

About 13 pounds at his last check-up. He's really growing now and is able to get up on all the furniture by himself.

Dog Tired

Tucker likes sharing a nap with Sophie. Sophie will not make the effort to lay down with him,
but she doesn't mind if he cuddles up to her.

Mother's Day Tulips about to bloom

These were delivered with the buds barely showing. I put them outside on Mother's Day and now they are about to bloom.

Fresh mowed grass and white feet = green feet.

These tiny wild flowers come up every Spring.

Not surprising - more dog pictures.

Tucker and Sophie

Tucker and Spirit taking a nap under my desk. Not much room for for my feet there. Spirit would not allow him to get this close if they were awake.

Rambling...

Taking Tucker the basement while I do laundry is like taking a little kid to Disney World. New sights! New sounds! New Smells! And if I leave the litter box on the floor, it's like a day a the beach. Sand is made for digging!

At last, a front view of those ears!

Corgi Ears are Up!

Saturday, March 28 - Tucker's ears were both standing up this morning. He was moving too much to get a head-on picture, but I did manage to get this back view while he was staring at Carmen (cat).

More snow

I wanted to get out and take some pictures, but after 2 hours of shoveling I just didn't have the energy.

After the storm

We had a snowstorm last Friday into Saturday. I took this picture with my phone going into work Monday morning. Note the bench in the background.

Canine Osteosarcoma

It's uncanny that this sometimes happens to me - I have something happen or I see or read about something and then within a few days or weeks I hear more about the subject.
We had to have our dog Zeus euthanized as a result of this cancer and not long after I read U is for Undertow which is not about a dog, but includes as part of the investigation a dog that died as a result of osteosarcoma. Then Friday I saw on The Today Show a story about a guy who is walking with his 2 dogs from Austin to Boston to bring awareness of the disease. You can see his blog at http://2dogs2000miles.blogspot.com/

Last time this happened it was about the coal mines burning in PA. I read a book that included information about it, then, without knowing, I read a novel that included the deserted town in the closing scenes, and shortly after that I picked up a magazine at a doctor's office and there was an article about the place.
Weird.

More Snow!

Snow is fun! Sophie has really been enjoying this snowfall more than the others. I think because it's warmer this month.

My cat wind chime had white feet this morning.

Zeus 2000-2010

I can't find his puppy pictures today. :(
Zeus was not the easiest dog to live with. He was high energy and was not too friendly to new people. Due to my not training him properly he was often difficult to walk -  pulling on the leash and a few times knocking me down when he was younger. He mellowed some as he got older. On the other hand, he never took offense or acted cowed if you accidentally stumbled over him. He gave lots and lots of kisses to his family. He loved just being with us. Though he was a leash puller he was the best at standing still while I took a picture of something. And he didn't pull at street corners - I at least taught him "wait" there. He almost always came when he was called. When I took him someplace where he could run he always went to the car when he was told. He would run to it and circle it until I got there and jump right in when I opened the door. He was a happy and exuberant dog. We miss him.

Zeus and Sophie January 2009, after a run at the park. I used this on my 2009 Christmas cards.

Young Zeus and Spirit playing tug-of-war with a bathmat.
(No, they weren't supposed to .... I guess I needed a new mat anyway.)

There must be something very interesting out there!

Zeus cools off on a hot day.
